Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cyrus Biotechnology is developing a next-generation engineered interleukin-22 (IL-22) protein therapeutic using AI-driven computational protein design. This engineered cytokine is specifically designed to be resistant to the naturally occurring interleukin-22 binding protein (IL-22BP), which typically acts as a soluble decoy receptor that inhibits natural IL-22 therapy. By overcoming this inhibition and incorporating half-life extension technology, the drug aims to enhance IL-22 receptor signaling to promote tissue protection and regeneration. The therapeutic is being developed for a range of indications, including gastrointestinal disorders (such as inflammatory bowel disease), viral infections, and metabolic conditions including weight loss.
