Overview

Next Generation ORS is a novel oral rehydration solution (ORS) designed to improve upon standard ORS formulations by targeting the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR). This new formulation includes calcium, which is intended to activate CaSR, thereby halting intestinal fluid loss and providing more rapid relief from acute watery diarrhea. The drug is being developed as an inexpensive and practical treatment option for children with diarrhea, a leading cause of mortality globally. Its development aims to address the limitations of current ORS, which primarily correct dehydration but do not directly stop fluid loss.
