Nezavist SDD

Nezavist SDD is an orally administered spray-dried dispersion formulation of the novel small molecule drug Nezavist, developed by Lohocla Research Corporation for the treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD) and craving. It is a first-in-class, non-addicting therapeutic designed to reduce heavy alcohol consumption and prevent relapse. Mechanistically, Nezavist acts as a positive allosteric modulator of GABA-A receptors at a novel site distinct from benzodiazepines and exerts its effects primarily via modulation of the enteric nervous system in the gut. This action influences gut-brain communication through vagal nerve signaling to suppress microglial inflammation in the brain—thereby reducing craving and supporting abstinence without requiring direct entry into the brain.
