Overview

NFL-102 is a botanical drug candidate being developed by NFL Biosciences for the treatment of tobacco and nicotine addiction. It is composed of a nicotine-depleted tobacco protein extract. The mechanism of action involves the modulation of the CREB (cAMP response element-binding protein), NF-κB (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells), and JNK (c-Jun N-terminal kinase) signaling pathways, which are associated with the neurobiological processes of addiction. NFL-102 is designed to support smoking cessation by potentially reducing nicotine reinforcement and withdrawal symptoms. As of early 2026, the program is positioned in Phase 2 development, with the company preparing to file a Phase 2b clinical trial application in mid-2026.
