NFX-179 Gel

NFX-179 Gel is a topical, "soft" (metabolically labile) small molecule MEK inhibitor being developed by NFlection Therapeutics for the treatment of cutaneous neurofibromas (cNFs) in individuals with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1). The drug is specifically engineered to concentrate at the dermal site of application to provide localized and sustained inhibition of the Ras/Raf/MEK/ERK (MAPK) signaling pathway within the tumor. Upon entering the systemic circulation, NFX-179 is designed to undergo rapid metabolic degradation, thereby minimizing systemic exposure and reducing the adverse effects typically associated with systemic MEK inhibitors. It has received Orphan Drug Designation in both the United States and the European Union for the treatment of cutaneous neurofibromas.
