Overview

NFX-21 is a small molecule drug under development by Nectid, Inc. It acts as a modulator of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR), also known as the bile acid receptor. FXR modulators are being investigated for their potential to treat diseases related to bile acid metabolism and liver function. The primary indication for NFX-21 is nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), a progressive liver disease characterized by fat accumulation, inflammation, and damage in the liver not caused by alcohol use. As of June 2025, NFX-21 has reached clinical phase development but has not received regulatory approval in any major market[1][2][3].
