Overview

NG004 is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody developed by NovaGo Therapeutics for the treatment of acute spinal cord injury. It targets and inhibits Nogo-A (also known as Reticulon-4 or RTN4), a protein that restricts nerve growth and regeneration in the central nervous system. By blocking Nogo-A, NG004 aims to promote nerve repair and functional recovery after spinal cord injury. Preclinical studies have also shown its potential to restore blood supply and retinal function in animal models of diabetic retinopathy by enabling normal vascular growth in the retina[1][2][3][5][6]. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials for acute spinal cord injury but development for diabetic retinopathy and stroke has been discontinued[2][3].
