Overview

NG101 refers to two distinct therapeutic candidates identified in clinical development. The first is an oral, peripherally restricted small molecule dopamine D2 and D3 receptor antagonist developed by Neurogastrx. It is designed to treat gastrointestinal motility disorders, such as gastroparesis, and to manage the gastrointestinal side effects (nausea and vomiting) associated with GLP-1 receptor agonists. By targeting peripheral receptors, it aims to enhance gastric emptying without crossing the blood-brain barrier, thereby avoiding central nervous system side effects. The second is an adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (AAV8) gene therapy developed by Elisigen (formerly National Gene) for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD). This therapy is administered via subretinal injection to provide long-term expression of therapeutic proteins within the eye to inhibit neovascularization.
