Overview

NG101 + semaglutide is an investigational combination therapy in which NG101, a novel agent, is administered alongside a GLP-1 receptor agonist (specifically semaglutide). The primary aim of this combination is to evaluate whether NG101 can mitigate or manage the gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with GLP-1 agonists such as semaglutide, which are widely used for weight management and type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide acts as a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, increasing insulin secretion, suppressing glucagon release, slowing gastric emptying, and reducing appetite. The mechanism of action for NG101 has not been fully disclosed in public sources but it is being studied specifically for its potential to improve tolerability of GLP-1 therapies by addressing GI adverse events[5]. This combination does not refer to Cagrilintide/semaglutide (CagriSema), but rather the co-administration of an experimental agent (NG101) with approved semaglutide.
