Overview

NG201-AD is an adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy candidate developed by Elisigen for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It utilizes the company's proprietary NGDF-scFv (Nerve Growth Factor-derived single-chain variable fragment) technology to target the accumulation of both amyloid-beta (Aβ) and tau proteins, which are central to the pathogenesis of the disease. The therapy employs an engineered AAV vector to deliver genetic sequences encoding scFvs that bind to and promote the clearance of toxic protein aggregates. By addressing both Aβ plaques and tau tangles simultaneously, NG201-AD aims to provide a more comprehensive therapeutic effect than single-target approaches. The delivery platform is designed to facilitate efficient penetration of the blood-brain barrier, potentially allowing for systemic administration to reach the central nervous system.
