NGD-4715

NGD-4715 is a selective, orally active small molecule antagonist of the melanin-concentrating hormone receptor 1 (MCHR1). It was developed by Neurogen Corporation as a potential treatment for obesity. The drug acts by blocking MCHR1, which is implicated in the regulation of caloric intake and body weight. In animal models, antagonism of this receptor led to reduced food intake and weight loss. Additionally, preclinical studies suggested anxiolytic and antidepressant effects. NGD-4715 successfully completed Phase I clinical trials but development was discontinued after Neurogen's acquisition by Ligand Pharmaceuticals[1][2][4][7].
