NgG vaccine

NgG vaccine is an investigational generalized modules for membrane antigens (GMMA)-based vaccine targeting Neisseria gonorrhoeae to prevent gonorrhoea infections. It consists of genetically detoxified outer membrane vesicles derived from the N. gonorrhoeae FA1090 strain, engineered for hyper-blebbing and reduced endotoxin activity (via alteration of lipid A acylation and removal of immunodominant reduction modifiable protein) while retaining key outer membrane proteins and lipooligosaccharide antigens to induce functional bactericidal and adhesion-inhibiting antibodies. In preclinical models, NgG elicits robust systemic and mucosal IgG and IgA responses and broad complement-mediated killing across diverse gonococcal strains, and it is being clinically developed by GSK as a prophylactic vaccine for adults at risk of gonorrhoea.[1][2]
