NGGT007 is an investigational recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) gene therapy developed by Suzhou Nuojiebei Biotechnology (also known as NorthGene) for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). The therapy is designed to be administered via a single intravitreal injection, delivering a genetic payload that encodes a potent anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) protein. By transducing retinal cells to continuously produce the therapeutic protein endogenously, NGGT007 aims to provide long-term suppression of pathological angiogenesis and vascular leakage. This approach is intended to significantly reduce or eliminate the treatment burden associated with the frequent, periodic intravitreal injections required by current standard-of-care anti-VEGF therapies, potentially improving long-term visual outcomes and patient compliance.
