Overview

NGI226 is an experimental small molecule drug formulated as microparticles for local injection. It is being developed for the treatment of Achilles tendinopathy, a condition characterized by pain and dysfunction of the Achilles tendon. The drug acts by inhibiting Janus kinases, proteins that may play a role in the pathogenesis of tendinopathy. By preventing activation of these kinases, NGI226 aims to improve tendon structure and function and relieve symptoms associated with tendinopathy. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials as a peritendon injection to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients with mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy who have not responded to conservative treatments.
