Overview

NGM120 is a long-acting, humanized monoclonal antibody that targets and blocks the glial-cell-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) family receptor alpha-like (GFRAL). By binding to GFRAL, it inhibits the activity of growth differentiation factor 15 (GDF15), a hormone implicated in nausea and vomiting during pregnancy as well as cancer-associated cachexia. The drug is being developed primarily for hyperemesis gravidarum—a severe form of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy—and has also been studied in advanced solid tumors and various cancers. Developed by NGM Biopharmaceuticals, Inc., it is currently under investigation in Phase 2 clinical trials for hyperemesis gravidarum[1][2][4][5][6][8].
