Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NH601 is a novel small molecule anxiolytic developed by Jiangsu Enhua Pharmaceutical for the treatment of anxiety disorders. It acts as a selective positive allosteric modulator (PAM) of the GABA_A receptor, specifically targeting the α2 and α3 subunits. This selective mechanism is designed to provide potent anxiolytic and muscle-relaxant effects while minimizing the sedation, cognitive impairment, and potential for dependence associated with non-selective benzodiazepines, which also modulate the α1 subunit. NH601 is formulated as an extended-release capsule to provide sustained therapeutic levels and is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical trials in China to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy subjects.
