Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NI-07 is a novel natural product being investigated for its selective antineoplastic activity against a broad range of solid tumors, including breast, lung, prostate, and pancreatic cancers. Developed through a collaboration between Texas Tech University and Yusahng Green Chemical, NI-07 demonstrates significant cytotoxicity in cancer cells while sparing normal fibroblasts and epithelial cells. Unlike many traditional chemotherapeutics that induce apoptosis, NI-07 appears to trigger cell death through paraptosis, a non-apoptotic programmed cell death pathway characterized by cytoplasmic vacuolization. Preclinical studies have shown that NI-07 may also provide a protective effect for normal cells against the toxicity of conventional agents like paclitaxel.
