Overview
Niaoduqing is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation, typically administered as granules (particles), used primarily to treat chronic kidney disease (CKD) and delay the progression of renal failure. Developed and manufactured by Consun Pharmaceutical Group, it is composed of several herbal ingredients, including *Rheum palmatum* (Rhubarb), *Astragalus membranaceus*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, and *Ligusticum chuanxiong*. The mechanism of action involves promoting the intestinal excretion of nitrogenous wastes such as urea and creatinine, improving renal microcirculation, and exerting anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects on kidney tissue. It is widely used in China for patients with stage 3-5 CKD who are not yet on dialysis or as an adjunct to dialysis to preserve residual renal function.
