Overview

**NICAM 440-02** is a multifunctional macrocyclic compound (NICAM) developed as a novel therapeutic agent with antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and cytoprotective properties. It acts primarily as an inhibitor of cyclophilin A (CYPA) and peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase B (PPIB), proteins implicated in viral replication and inflammation pathways. Initially pursued by Isotechnika Pharma for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, development continued under Hepion Pharmaceuticals (formerly ContraVir) with preclinical focus on anti-HCV activity, supported by Canadian government funding[3][5][6][7][8][10].
