Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nicovape Q is an inhaled nicotine replacement therapy (iNRT) developed by Liber Pharmaceuticals. It is a closed-system nicotine liquid inhaler designed to deliver nicotine to the lungs via inhalation, providing a pharmacokinetic profile that more closely mimics the rapid nicotine delivery of combustible cigarettes compared to traditional nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs) such as patches or gums. The device aerosolizes a nicotine-containing solution which, upon inhalation, activates nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the central nervous system to alleviate cravings and withdrawal symptoms associated with smoking cessation. In September 2021, Nicovape Q became the first nicotine vaping product to be registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) as a prescription-only medicine for smoking cessation.
