Overview

Nidufexor is a novel, orally administered small molecule that acts as a partial agonist of the farnesoid X receptor (FXR). FXR is a nuclear receptor involved in the regulation of bile acid, lipid, and glucose metabolism. Nidufexor was developed to target chronic liver diseases such as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and diabetic nephropathy. Preclinical studies demonstrated that nidufexor modulates FXR-dependent gene expression, leading to reduced hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis. It has advanced to Phase 2 clinical trials for NASH and diabetic nephropathy[6][8].
