Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Niferex** is an oral, fixed-dose multivitamin and multimineral dietary supplement marketed by Avion Pharmaceuticals for nutritional support in patients with iron deficiency. Each tablet supplies 75 mg elemental iron as the chelated iron complex ferrous asparto glycinate, marketed as Sumalate, together with ascorbic acid, folate components, cyanocobalamin, zinc, and succinic acid. The iron component replenishes iron needed for hemoglobin synthesis and oxygen transport, while vitamin C supports intestinal iron absorption. Niferex is supplied as a once-daily coated tablet and is listed by DailyMed as an unapproved drug other; FDA has not found the product safe and effective and has not approved its labeling.
