Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nigopram is a branded generic small molecule antidepressant containing escitalopram oxalate, developed and marketed by SNIG Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd. It belongs to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class of medications. Nigopram is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. It functions by binding to the serotonin transporter (SERT) in the central nervous system, effectively blocking the reabsorption of serotonin into neurons. This action increases the extracellular level of serotonin, thereby enhancing serotonergic neurotransmission and improving mood and anxiety symptoms. The drug is available in oral tablet form and is part of SNIG Pharma's CNS therapeutic segment.
