Overview

Nilofabicin (CG-400549) is an investigational small molecule antibiotic developed as a first-in-class inhibitor of the bacterial enzyme enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase (FabI), which is essential for fatty acid biosynthesis in bacteria. It exhibits potent activity against Gram-positive pathogens including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), with demonstrated efficacy in both in vitro and in vivo models. Nilofabicin has been studied primarily for the treatment of complicated acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (cABSSSI) caused by drug-resistant bacteria such as MRSA[1][4][5].
