Nimotuzumab, developed by Biotech Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., is an IgG1 antibody that targets domain III of the extracellular region of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). It is characterized by an intermediate affinity for EGFR, which allows it to selectively bind to tumor cells with high EGFR expression while sparing healthy tissues with low EGFR density, thereby reducing common anti-EGFR toxicities such as severe cutaneous rash and hypomagnesemia.
