This multi-drug chemo-immunotherapy regimen is being investigated by Sun Yat-sen University for the treatment of high-risk locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma (LANPC). The regimen combines two targeted biologics—nimotuzumab (an EGFR inhibitor) and toripalimab (a PD-1 checkpoint inhibitor)—with a triplet chemotherapy backbone consisting of cisplatin, albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-paclitaxel), and capecitabine (the TPC regimen). This intensive induction therapy aims to improve outcomes in patients with high-risk disease before they undergo radical radiotherapy. The combination leverages synergistic effects between immune checkpoint blockade, targeted growth factor inhibition, and cytotoxic chemotherapy to maximize tumor reduction and enhance anti-tumor immunity.
