Nimvec AM494 is an investigational gene-modified therapy being developed by Amarna Therapeutics for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS). It is based on the company's proprietary Nimvec platform, which utilizes a replication-deficient Simian Virus 40 (SV40) vector for gene delivery. The Nimvec platform is designed to be non-immunogenic in humans, potentially allowing for sustained therapeutic effect and the possibility of repeat administration without triggering a neutralizing immune response. AM494 is specifically engineered to restore immune tolerance to myelin antigens, thereby addressing the underlying autoimmune cause of MS and preventing neurodegeneration. The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
