Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ninjurin-1 neutralizing antibody refers to monoclonal antibodies designed to target and inhibit nerve injury-induced protein 1 (Ninjurin-1 or Ninj1). Ninjurin-1 is a cell-surface adhesion molecule that is upregulated after nerve injury and is also a critical mediator of plasma membrane rupture (PMR) during lytic cell death (such as pyroptosis, necroptosis, and ferroptosis). By blocking Ninjurin-1, these neutralizing antibodies inhibit cell lysis, prevent the release of pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), and promote tissue repair. Preclinical research has demonstrated that Ninjurin-1 neutralizing antibodies can restore bladder function in spinal cord injury models, improve erectile function in diabetic and cavernous nerve injury models, and reduce inflammation in models of gout and liver injury.
