Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NIPAH is a polyclonal antibody therapeutic being developed by Fabentech for the treatment of Nipah virus infection. Utilizing the proprietary FabShield® platform, the drug consists of highly purified F(ab')2 fragments derived from equine plasma following immunization with Nipah virus antigens. These polyclonal antibodies are designed to provide broad-spectrum neutralization of the virus by targeting multiple epitopes, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells and mitigating the progression of severe respiratory and neurological symptoms. The FabShield® manufacturing process is specifically engineered to remove the Fc fragment and other non-relevant plasma proteins, which helps to reduce the risk of immunogenicity and serum sickness often associated with traditional heterologous antibody therapies. The program is currently in the proof-of-concept stage of development.
