Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nipramef-P is a fixed-dose combination oral tablet formulation developed and marketed by Sapient Laboratories, an Indian pharmaceutical company. The medication contains two active ingredients: nimesulide (100 mg) and paracetamol (325 mg). Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts as a preferential inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), providing anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic that complements nimesulide by elevating the overall pain threshold and reducing fever, likely through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Nipramef-P is indicated for the symptomatic relief of acute pain, inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and fever. Due to the potential for hepatotoxicity associated with nimesulide, the drug is typically recommended for short-term use in adults.
