Overview

NIR-PGN650 is a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescently labeled molecular imaging agent developed by Peregrine Pharmaceuticals. It consists of PGN650, a fully human F(ab')2 antibody fragment derived from PGN635, conjugated to a near-infrared dye (such as IRDye 800CW). NIR-PGN650 specifically targets phosphatidylserine (PS), an anionic phospholipid that is normally sequestered in the inner leaflet of the cell membrane but becomes exposed on the outer surface of tumor vascular endothelial cells and tumor cells in response to oxidative stress, irradiation, and chemotherapy. By binding to exposed PS, NIR-PGN650 enables the non-invasive detection of solid tumors and the early measurement of tumor responses to therapeutic interventions (such as docetaxel or radiation) in preclinical models.
