Overview

**NIRG** is an investigational tumor-targeted theranostic small-molecule conjugate consisting of the heptamethine cyanine near-infrared fluorescent dye DZ-1 covalently linked to the antimetabolite chemotherapy agent gemcitabine. The DZ-1 component preferentially accumulates in hypoxic tumor cells, including hepatocellular carcinoma and glioblastoma models, enabling near-infrared fluorescence imaging and tumor localization. The gemcitabine payload retains antiproliferative activity, providing a combined imaging and antitumor-growth-inhibition approach. NIRG has been evaluated only in preclinical cell-line, xenograft, orthotopic tumor, and patient-derived xenograft studies; no clinical development program, marketing authorization, or commercial manufacturer has been identified.
