Overview

Nishamalakichurna is a traditional Ayurvedic poly-herbal formulation composed of equal parts of *Curcuma longa* (turmeric) and *Emblica officinalis* (Indian gooseberry). It is primarily used in the management of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus, referred to in Ayurveda as Madhumeha. The formulation combines the anti-inflammatory and hypoglycemic properties of curcumin from turmeric with the antioxidant and glucose-regulating effects of vitamin C and tannins from Indian gooseberry. Clinical and experimental studies have evaluated its efficacy in controlling fasting blood sugar (FBS) and oral glucose tolerance (OGTT), often showing chronic effectiveness in glycemic control and reduction of oxidative stress markers.
