Overview

NiT-2 is an autologous cell therapy candidate being developed by Neuronity Therapeutics for the treatment of synucleinopathies, including Parkinson's disease, Lewy Body Dementia, and Multiple System Atrophy. The therapy involves the extraction and engineering of peripheral immune cells (such as monocytes or macrophages) from the patient's bloodstream. These cells are modified to enhance their ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and perform neuroprotective functions, specifically targeting the clearance of toxic alpha-synuclein aggregates and the modulation of neuroinflammatory processes within the central nervous system. By leveraging the body's own immune system, NiT-2 aims to restore immune homeostasis and slow the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.
