Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NITOFRESH-K is a topical oral rinse (mouthwash) developed and marketed by Intra Life, an Indian PCD pharma company. It is an over-the-counter (OTC) formulation indicated for the treatment of tooth sensitivity (dentin hypersensitivity). The product contains a combination of potassium nitrate (3%) and sodium fluoride (0.2%). Potassium nitrate acts as a desensitizing agent by increasing the extracellular potassium ion concentration, which depolarizes the nerve cell membranes in the dentin tubules and prevents the transmission of pain stimuli to the brain. Sodium fluoride serves as a remineralizing agent, strengthening tooth enamel and helping to occlude open dentin tubules, which further reduces sensitivity and provides protection against dental caries.
