Overview

Nitolic is a Class I medical device developed by ICB Pharma for the treatment of head lice infestations (*Pediculus humanus capitis*). It consists of a mixture of isopropyl myristate, cyclomethicone, and a surfactant, utilizing a proprietary 'O-effect' technology. Unlike traditional pediculicides, Nitolic employs a physical/mechanical mechanism of action by providing complete coverage of lice and their eggs (nits), leading to suffocation and dehydration by blocking the respiratory system and removing hydrocarbons from the exoskeleton. This pesticide-free approach prevents the development of resistance and is marketed as highly effective against all developmental stages of lice with a single application.
