Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nitric oxide-releasing nanomatrix gel (also known as Bionanomatrix gel or PANO gel) is a peptide amphiphile (PA)-based self-assembling nanomatrix gel designed to provide controlled, sustained release of nitric oxide (NO) directly to surgical sites. Developed by Endomimetics (a spinout from the University of Alabama at Birmingham), the gel mimics the natural endothelium to promote healthy healing, enhance vasodilation, and inhibit neointimal hyperplasia. Its lead application is for perivascular application during arteriovenous fistula (AVF) creation to prevent AVF maturation failure in hemodialysis patients. It is also being investigated for other applications, including subcutaneous injection for obesity and insulin resistance, and local application in orthopedic and dental procedures.
