Nitric Oxide Releasing Sinus Irrigation

Nitric Oxide Releasing Sinus Irrigation (NOSi) is a topical therapeutic developed by SaNOtize Research and Development Corp. for the treatment of recalcitrant chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), particularly cases associated with bacterial biofilms. The treatment utilizes SaNOtize's proprietary Nitric Oxide Releasing Solution (NORS) technology, which generates therapeutic concentrations of nitric oxide (NO) upon administration. Nitric oxide is a potent, broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent that exerts its effects by inducing oxidative and nitrosative stress, leading to the destruction of microbial DNA, proteins, and lipids. Crucially, NOSi is designed to penetrate and disrupt biofilms—structured communities of bacteria that are typically resistant to conventional antibiotics and host immune responses. The therapy is administered as a sinus irrigation, providing both mechanical cleansing of the sinus cavities and targeted chemical eradication of persistent pathogens.
