Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nitronaphthazine (MN-08) is a small molecule nitrone derivative being developed by Guangzhou Magpie Pharmaceutical for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. It functions primarily as a potent free radical scavenger and anti-inflammatory agent. The drug is designed to cross the blood-brain barrier and mitigate the neurotoxic effects of oxidative stress and neuroinflammation that occur during and after an ischemic event. By neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitronaphthazine aims to protect neural tissue from reperfusion injury and secondary damage, potentially reducing infarct volume and improving neurological recovery. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials in China to assess its safety, pharmacokinetics, and impact on oxidative and inflammatory biomarkers in healthy volunteers.
