Nivolumab + doxorubicin + vinblastine + dacarbazine (N-AVD) is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma. This regimen combines the immune checkpoint inhibitor nivolumab with three conventional chemotherapy agents. Nivolumab is a PD-1 inhibitor that enhances T-cell immune responses against cancer cells by blocking the interaction between PD-1 and its ligands. The chemotherapy components (AVD) work through different cytotoxic mechanisms to directly kill cancer cells. This combination has shown high efficacy in both early-stage unfavorable and advanced Hodgkin lymphoma, with impressive complete remission rates and progression-free survival outcomes. Clinical trials have demonstrated that N-AVD may offer advantages over other regimens like brentuximab vedotin plus AVD (BV+AVD) in terms of both efficacy and tolerability.
