Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nivolumab + nab-paclitaxel is a combination therapy consisting of two distinct agents used primarily in oncology. Nivolumab is a fully human IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor on T cells, blocking its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. Nab-paclitaxel (nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel) is a formulation of the cytotoxic agent paclitaxel bound to albumin nanoparticles, which facilitates enhanced delivery to tumor tissue via albumin-mediated transport mechanisms and improves solubility compared to conventional paclitaxel. This combination has been investigated for use in several cancers, including muscle-invasive bladder cancer and pancreatic cancer, where it may offer synergistic effects by combining immune checkpoint inhibition with cytotoxic chemotherapy[2][3][5][6].
