NIZ985 is a recombinant human heterodimer composed of interleukin (IL)-15 and the IL-15 receptor alpha (IL-15Rα). It is designed to mimic the physiologically active form of human plasma IL-15. NIZ985 acts as an immunotherapy by promoting the proliferation, activation, and tumor infiltration of cytotoxic lymphocytes, including CD8+ T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. This results in enhanced antitumor immune responses. In preclinical models and early-phase clinical trials, NIZ985 has demonstrated the ability to delay tumor growth and promote immune cell infiltration into tumors. It has been evaluated both as a single agent and in combination with spartalizumab (an anti–PD-1 antibody) for patients with advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
