Overview
NK010 + rituximab is a combination immunotherapy regimen being investigated for the treatment of refractory systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis (LN). NK010 consists of allogeneic, non-genetically modified natural killer (NK) cells, which are intended to provide an immediate cytotoxic response against pathogenic cells. Rituximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody that targets the CD20 antigen on B cells, leading to their depletion. In this combination, rituximab is used to deplete the B-cell population, while the infusion of NK010 cells is hypothesized to enhance the clearance of autoreactive immune cells and modulate the inflammatory environment characteristic of SLE and LN. This therapeutic approach is currently being evaluated in investigator-initiated trials at the Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital to determine safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients who have failed standard-of-care treatments.
