**NK4** is a recombinant protein fragment derived from hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), specifically consisting of the N-terminal and four Kringle domains of HGF. It acts as a **competitive antagonist of HGF** by binding to the c-Met receptor without activating it, thereby blocking HGF/c-Met signaling. This inhibition suppresses tumor cell growth, invasion, metastasis, and angiogenesis. Importantly, NK4 also shows angioinhibitory activity independent of its HGF-antagonistic effect. NK4 is under investigation as a gene therapy or recombinant protein therapy for various cancers, with key applications in targeting cancer invasion, metastasis, and tumor angiogenesis[1][2].
