NKC derived Exosomes is an investigational exosome-based therapy being developed by StemiGen for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. These exosomes are extracellular vesicles derived from natural killer (NK) cells, containing a specialized cargo of proteins, lipids, and various RNA species. In the context of osteoarthritis, these vesicles are intended to be delivered to the joint environment to modulate the inflammatory response, inhibit cartilage degradation, and potentially stimulate regenerative processes within the synovial tissue. By utilizing cell-free exosomes rather than whole NK cells, the therapy aims to harness the immunomodulatory and signaling benefits of NK cells while potentially offering a better safety profile and easier manufacturing and storage. The program is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
