NKG2D CAR-T is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by YaKe Biotechnology for the treatment of various solid tumors. The therapy consists of autologous T cells genetically engineered to express a CAR based on the natural killer group 2 member D (NKG2D) receptor. This receptor recognizes NKG2D ligands (NKG2DL), which include stress-induced proteins such as MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence A (MICA), MHC class I polypeptide-related sequence B (MICB), and the UL16-binding protein (ULBP) family. These ligands are frequently upregulated on the surface of tumor cells in response to oncogenic transformation or cellular stress but have limited expression on healthy tissues. Upon binding to these ligands, the CAR-T cells mediate direct cytotoxicity to eliminate the cancer cells. The product is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
