NKIL15 is an autologous natural killer (NK) cell therapy product that has been stimulated with interleukin-15 (IL-15) to enhance its anti-tumor potency. Developed by the Hospital Universitario La Paz, it is currently being evaluated in Phase I/II clinical trials for the treatment of recurrent or refractory high-grade central nervous system (CNS) tumors in children, adolescents, and young adults. The therapy is administered directly into the cerebrospinal fluid via intraventricular or intrathecal routes. The stimulation with IL-15 is designed to improve the proliferation, survival, and cytotoxic capabilities of the NK cells, allowing them to more effectively target and eliminate malignant cells within the CNS, bypassing the blood-brain barrier.
