Overview

NKS01 is a **small-molecule aromatase inhibitor** that was being developed primarily by Snow Brand Milk Products and later by Nippon Kayaku for the treatment of **breast cancer** and related hormone-dependent disorders. Aromatase inhibitors block the conversion of androgens to estrogens by inhibiting the aromatase enzyme, thereby reducing estrogen levels—which is beneficial in treating estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer. NKS01 is also known by the synonym 14alphaOHAT. The drug development was discontinued after phase II trials for breast cancer.
