Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NKTR-063 is an inhaled formulation of the glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin, developed by Nektar Therapeutics using its proprietary pulmonary drug delivery technology. The drug was designed to treat Gram-positive pulmonary infections, including pneumonia caused by methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA). By delivering the antibiotic directly to the site of infection via inhalation, NKTR-063 aimed to achieve high therapeutic concentrations in the lungs while reducing the systemic side effects typically associated with intravenous vancomycin administration. The program was evaluated in preclinical studies but did not progress to late-stage clinical development.
