NKTT120 is a recombinant humanized IgG1k monoclonal antibody that specifically targets the invariant T cell receptor (iTCR) on invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells. By binding to this receptor, NKTT120 induces rapid and sustained depletion of iNKT cells in peripheral blood without affecting other lymphocyte populations. This mechanism is intended to reduce inflammation associated with sickle cell disease by preventing or decreasing the frequency of vaso-occlusive crises, which are driven in part by iNKT-mediated inflammatory cascades. The drug was developed as an investigational therapy for sickle cell disease and has completed Phase 1 clinical trials demonstrating safety, tolerability, and effective depletion of iNKT cells[1][3][6][8].
